Wellbeing Superspreader success: “The Tradie”
FOR two months the Wellbeing Superspreaders have been infecting the Scone community with positive wellbeing, as part of Where There’s A Will’s (WTAW) grand plan to create herd immunity against mental ill health.
The ten handpicked Superspreaders have completed four one-on-one training sessions with certified Wellbeing Coach, Emma Delahey and are now relaying their experiences and positive wellbeing practices to fellow Sconeites.
Rod Bailey, ‘The Tradie’ Superspreader has been chatting with friends and work colleagues about his coaching sessions and how he has learned to de-stress.
“A lot of people do ask you about it, I just tell them what’s helped me,” Mr Bailey said.
“You’ve got to find what makes you tick, everyone’s different and then work on those,” he said.
“My tactic is basically not worrying, not getting worked up, not being too stressed, just dealing with things as they come,” he said.
“You do need to be pushed in the right direction though, Emma has simplified things for me, showing me how to prioritise things.
“Obviously I still get busy at work, you’re not going to be one-hundred percent the whole time, but you know hot to get back on track.
“It make you realise stress is actually quite easy to manage it if you sit back and see what is or has been bothering you, sit down by yourself and work out what would make you feel better and basically just do it,” Mr Bailey said.
Mr Bailey owns a plumbing company and has learned to make more time for his family.
“I’m a lot more present at say, kids sporting events, footy training, things like that,” Mr Bailey said.
“I think my family has noticed a bit of a difference, I’m definitely not as agitated all of the time,” he said.
“I’m just really happy with where I am now, it’s been great,” he said.
