Jacob’s Journey: Leukaemia Fundraiser

Filed in Just In by November 11, 2020

JACOB Kyte, a beloved member of the local equine community, has been diagnosed with acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia at just 17 months of age.

Family friends Christine Jones, Lynda MacCallum and Julie McNaughton have rallied together to fundraise for Jacob and his family, to support them through this difficult time.

“They were competing at Scone day the before at the cutting show and the next day they were at John Hunter, diagnosed and haven’t left,” said Christine Jones.

“How your life can get turned on your head.

“They’re now at Ronald McDonald House and are still getting treatment at John Hunter.”

An online auction called ‘Jacob’s Journey’ will be held from 9am Friday, November 27 until 4pm Sunday, November 29, with all proceeds going to Jacob and his family.

See auction item list below

“Julie and I come from the campdraft side of things, Lynda comes from cutting,” said Christine.

“James [his father] does campdrafting and Blair [his mother] does cutting, so we thought we’d have this online auction,” said Christine.

“I’ve just been inundated with people donating prizes.

“It’s widespread, I guess that’s the thing with the community, you get to know people from all over and they go, ‘oh yeah we camped next to them for a week, what can we do to help them?'”

The auction exchange platform can be accessed through the MacCallum Inglis website and a direct link will be made available soon.

Those who log onto the auction can participate and bid or simply watch the auction.

If auction items don’t appeal, people also have the option to directly donate to a special bank account set up for Jacob.

To directly donate, contact Christine Jones on 0427 006 606  or at chris@greenhillsconveyancing.com.au.
