Young Gun Gets Experts
JESS Carrigan from MacCallum Inglis has assembled a range of farming supply experts to be in Scone on Saturday to give local producers the latest information, including managing a dry season.
Jess was one of ten people selected from throughout Australia to be part of the Australian Independent Rural Retailers (AIRR) young gun development program and decided to run a local field day to help local people on the land.
“The representatives are leaders in their field who know their products inside out, who can provide more information than we could in store and help people run their businesses more effectively,” said Ms Carrigan.
“There’ll be an agronomist there, people from feed companies and animal health experts, so for example people can improve their horses diet by making little changes that could have a big impact, or how to use dry feed lick blocks so cattle can break down their feed easier,” she said.
“There’ll be a Waratah exclusion fence display and exclusion fences have become very popular to keep feral animals out, they are higher than normal, more rigid and have a skirt on the bottom to prevent feral and wild animals getting through,” she said.
“It’s about making sure local people are getting the best value for money they can get by buying the correct product for their purposes and not choosing something that is not going to suit their enterprise so any questions farmers may have been thinking about over the years or to help people planning for the future the expo is ideal,” Jess Carrigan said.
There will be a gold coin donation sausage sizzle and to help keep the children entertained Sparkles the Clown and a jumping castle.
Entry is free and there will also be a lucky door prize for a Waco car fridge, just in time for summer.
