Women In Business Event Wrap: Photo Gallery Inside!
LAST Thursday the Upper Hunter Women In Business (UHWIB) organisation held their first networking event at the Muswellbrook District Workers Club and it was a raging success!
See photo gallery below.
Organisers Lavinia Hutchison and Lisa Harpley initiated the new network to help local business women connect, learn from each other and grow their local businesses.
Lavinia talked about her own experiences moving to new regions and establishing new business networks and friendships and said the Upper Hunter was a region where there is no shortage of talented women willing to help other women.
Joplin Higgins, owner of Joplin Higgins Lawyers, was the first guest speaker and gave an inspiring speech about what motivated her to go into law and the tenacity any business owner needs to succeed.
Her speech ignited a great discussion on the high standards women set for themselves in business and the need for an extraordinary work ethic.
While there were only 23 tickets available for the first event, due to COVID restrictions, the demand for tickets was high and they hope to have more tickets for future events to ensure more local women can become part of the event said Lavinia Hutchison.
“Lisa and I would like to thank everyone that came along and supported us at our first event,” Lavinia said.
“There are so may incredibly talented women in our community and to have 23 of them come together in one room made for a great evening,” she said.
“We’re already working on our September event and are excited to be creating a regular ‘must attend’ get-together in the social calendars of many local women,” Lisa said.
The event was complete with deliciously delicate canopes and of course, complimentary champagne on arrival.
From cupcakes to donated prizes, each guest walked away with new business connections, friendships and something special.
