Weather: The week ahead

HEAVY rainfall is forecasted today and tomorrow, with possible thunderstorms that may bring up to 50 millimetres of rain tomorrow evening.

Upper Hunter rivers near Scone are currently steady but may rise due to ongoing rainfall caused by a high in the Tasman Sea, which continues to interact with a trough along the coastline.

A western trough is expected to move through New South Wales tonight, extending east towards the Upper Hunter early tomorrow.

Residents are asked travel safely in wet weather conditions, watch out for weather warnings and follow flood safety advice.

Skies are expected to clear from Wednesday onwards, with partly cloudy conditions to remain for the rest of the week.

A maximum temperature of 21 today in Scone.

The Glenbawn Dam is currently at 52.3 percent capacity.
