Local vaccine race – the best and the worst
THE Upper Hunter Shire Council has continued to surge ahead with vaccination rates, with 92.3 percent first vaccinations achieved, placing it in the top 30 areas in the state.
However, Muswellbrook has the sixth worst vaccination rate in the state, out of 123 local government areas; Cessnock is ranked at 117 and Singleton at 111.
Yesterday, Muswellbrook had a Pfizer pop-up clinic, with 1,000 vaccines available, but only 457 people were vaccinated. The vaccination clinic at Muswellbrook Hospital has the capacity to vaccinate 130 people a day, but less than 100 people a day are taking up the opportunity.
