Overview
- The Scone Fire Station is part of Fire and Rescue NSW.
- The local firefighters provide fire and rescue services for the township of Scone.
- There are 14 retained fire fighters based out the station.
- Annually they respond to approximately 100 calls for assistance.
Becoming a local firefighter
- If you are interested in becoming a retained firefighter at your local fire brigade, register your interest with the station.
- People who are over 18 years of age and are fit and well may qualify to become a retained firefighter.
- Initial training and qualification is for 2 x 4 day weeks out of town.
- Firefighters are recruited by the local station and return to the local station, unlike police or ambulance services.
- The station must have a minimum of four retained firefighters on call within town at all times.
- People employed out of town or on shift work can apply to be a local firefighter, but availability for rostering purposes has to be considered.
