THERE were about 1,072 cattle penned today.

Half the yarding was export cattle, mainly cows, due to a lot of people really starting to get frightened now.

The cow job was fully firm on last week and we saw export bulls make up to $3 a kilo and cows made up to $2.65.

Trade cattle were fully firm for the better end, secondary cattle however were cheaper by 10 or 15 cents.

Overall, considering the way things are, the market is still good.

We’ll continue to see lighter cows while ever it remains hot and dry.

But we’re really digging deep now and getting into people’s breeders.

In terms of buyers, there was an export buyer from out of market, but on the whole regular buyers.

The demand for export cattle is pretty strong at the moment and there is no trouble selling meat outside the country.

I think China are soaking up a lot of it, so that is helping things, more than a billion people buying beef certainly helps.
