IT was a pleasant day for golf on Thursday August 26 for the lady golfers at Scone. A great field of twenty players contested an 18 Hole Individual & 2 Ball 2 Digit Stableford sponsored by Janie Holyman and Annie Woods. The winners of the 2 Digit event were Gillie Bennetto and Julie Leckie who had 301 points. This was four points ahead of Joan Faras and June Jukes. Pam Manning had a fine round of 38 points to be the individual winner.

Balls were won by: Pam Manning 38, June Jukes, Julie Leckie 36, Mandy Fisher 35, Cheryl Clydsdale, Annie Woods, Dordie Bragg, Ann Cameron 33 and Sarah Howey 32 points on a countback from Janie Holyman and Noreen Marshall.

The Scone golfers were out in force on Saturday August 28 with a full field playing the interesting event, a 2 Person Ambrose FBBB Stableford. This was kindly sponsored by Liz and Paul Smart.

Once again the day became progressively windy after a calm start, eventually calming again for the end of play.

There were some very good scores amongst the sixty four players with the prize winners Luke Stevens and Tony O’Neill having 50 points. The next best players were Julie Leckie & Annie Woods, Garry Carter & David Bradshaw and Daryl Dutton & Neil Clydsdale who all finished on 49 points.

Balls were won by these pairs plus Sid Collison & John Roe 48, Glen Tarrant & Graham White 47, Shane Davis & Matt Langan, George Campbell & Charlie Manning, Wes Boyd & Michael Robinson 46, Jim & Barb Hobbs, Robert Ryan & Garry Taylor, Barry Wintle & Josh Whale 45, Michael Morton & Mac Dawson, Ross Banks & Lindsay Hodge, David Druce & Trevor Wilson and Michael & Angus Stanford 44 points on a countback from Gillie Bennetto & Janie Holyman.

The greens will be renovated on Tuesday, August 31 and the course will be closed. There will be no competition on Wednesday September 1 as sanding of the greens will be occurring and member volunteers are encouraged to assist.

On Thursday, September 2 the ladies will play an 18 Hole American Foursomes Ambrose. The Monthly Mug will be played for on Saturday September 4 as a Stroke / Stableford sponsored by the Scone RSL Group.
