DOZENS of people converged at the Rouchel Recreation Ground on Saturday,  November 21.

The afternoon commenced with a game of cricket between Rouchel and Muswellbrook, where the home team were the victors!

Rural Fire Service personnel including Deputy Commissioner Peter McKechnie, Area Manager Paul McGrath, MP Michael Johnson and Mayor Maurice Collison were on hand to present Rouchel Fire Service members with long service awards.

Our local firefighters hold over 490 years of service between them.

To kick off the Rouchel Community Christmas Party, the much loved Sparkles arrived to entertain the children with craft activities, music and face painting.

The barbecue that followed was enjoyed by all, as country people appreciate a good steak.

To the delight of the children, Santa arrived early in the local fire truck with his bags full of presents for all the good boys and girls.

Muswellbrook group, Kyda Rock entertained community members and campers until late with their great music, while others just enjoyed the ambience and catching up with each other.

The evening finished with a lightning show and more welcome rain.

(L-R): Sparkles the clown, (Marina Lee-Warner), Santa (Sid Collison) and Lyn Nash.
