Pictures of snow from Mount Helen in Murrurundi

MURRURUNDI resident Howard Lane had a job to get up Mount Helen today and clear the snow from the satellite dish to keep Radio National on the airwaves, but the snow won.

Howard estimates the snow was 8 inches deep and with still another 50 metres to climb up the mountain, with his 4WD sliding a bit sideways in parts, he decided it was time to come back down the mountain. 

More snow is predicted this afternoon, so Radio National might be off the air a little while longer, until Howard can make it up the mountain safely and clear the dish.

The Pages also now has a fair flow and has some residents cut off in their homes by the fire.
