New Skate Park and Community Upgrades Announced
MURRURUNDI will finally get the skate park residents have been lobbying for with $256,252 in funding from the state government being announced.
The Wilson Memorial Sports Complex will soon be home to a fully fenced skate park and a learn to ride bike path, designed to provide toddlers to teenagers with a safe place to gather.
Other funding announced include:
- Reconstruction of the netball courts at the Bill Rose Complex. The courts were impacted by the construction of the bypass and will now be brought back to a safe playing standard: $250,000.
- New lighting and pathways at McKinnon Oval in Aberdeen. The improvements will ensure the oval is brought up to mobility standards and allow the oval to be safely used at night: $51,875
- New footpaths in Merriwa. The current footpaths will be removed and new concrete pavement will be laid to comply with access standards and will include landscaping to increase shade in the town centre: $143,438.
The total grant funding from the Stronger Country Communities Fund is $814,517.
