A RECORD number of people attended the ANZAC Day Dawn Service today at Murrurundi, with more than 100 people arriving at the Murrurundi Memorial Gates to pay their respects to those who have served Australia.

Gary Veale, President of the Murrurundi RSL Branch said it was “the largest ever” ANZAC Day Ceremony to date.

The crowd assembled at Adelaide Street for the March to the Memorial Gates, followed by a Remembrance Service.

The March was led by Warrant Officer Wayne Wilson from Williamstown, who has served in the Australian Air Force for 31 years.

Many wreathes were laid at the Murrurundi Memorial Gates outside the Bowling Club, before students from Blandford and Murrurundi Public School led the Australian National Anthem.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
