Local covid numbers
IN the past 48 hours there have been no new cases in the Upper Hunter Shire, but case numbers continue to grow in neighbouring local government areas. The numbers in the lower Hunter are growing quickly, in some cases more quickly than Sydney areas.
The state may now reach 70 percent on October 6, but restrictions will still ease on October 11. On current projections 80 percent vaccination will occur on October 16. At this stage, further lockdowns are unlikely even though case numbers are growing and town-based restrictions will only be put in place if there is an outbreak which overwhelms local hospitals.
