Hard Borders To Protect Regional Victoria
THE Premier of Victoria Daniel Andrews has announced metropolitan Melbourne and the shire of Mitchell will go into stage three restrictions from midnight tomorrow, for at least six weeks, as he described the situation of Victoria as “we know we’re on the cusp of something very, very bad,” unless drastic steps are taken.
“Every Victorian needs to understand this is not over,” Premier Andrews said.
“It won’t be a couple of hundred cases a day, it will be more than cases and it will spiral well and truly out of control,” he said.
“Pretending that it is (over) because we all want it to be over is not realistic and is part of the problem,” he said.
“We can’t just go back to normal, despite the fact we all want to,” Premier Daniel Andrews said.
School holidays in Victoria will be extended for one week, with the exception of students studying VCE in Yr 10, 11 and 12.
The people of Victoria will not be allowed to visit regional areas where there are low to no cases and flagged that there may be other announcements relating to regional areas.
The Premier said there would be “hard boundaries” around regional Victoria with “booze bus style arrangements.”
Businesses are having to take backward steps such as cafes having to go back to take-away only.
