Covid: Weddings and fertility

Filed in Just In by August 28, 2021

TODAY Minister Brad Hazzard said the government was working towards allowing weddings with a group of five guests to begin from Friday, with more information to be made available during next week.

Mr Hazzard also said NSW Health has advised women who are concerned about fertility, not to delay getting the vaccine.

“The most senior health advisory in Australia has confirmed absolutely that there is no evidence whatsoever that a woman’s fertility, for that matter a man’s fertility, would be in any way affected by having the vaccine,” Mr Hazzard said.

“A strong point though that was made to me…is that particularly young women and girls who are contemplating having a child, should understand that if they don’t have the vaccine and they do get the virus, they may suffer from long-covid or the symptoms, would actually make it more difficult to be able to have children,” Brad Hazzard said.
