Covid numbers for today

THERE were 12 local government areas which came out of lockdown today, including the Upper Hunter Shire Council. Read more: Lockdown lifted but some restrictions.

The state has now reached 80.1 percent first vaccination and 48.5 percent double vaccination. Based on the current rate of vaccination, it is predicted the state will reach 70 percent double vaccination by October 11.

In the past 24 hours in New South Wales:

• 1,351 new cases of covid were identified
• 15,000 people with covid are being cared for through hospital in the home
• 1,231 are hospitalised
• 231 people in intensive care
• 108 are being ventilated
• 12 people have passed away:
  • 1 person in their 40s
  • 1 person in their 50s
  • 4 people in their 60s
  • 2 people in their 70s
  • 3 people in their 80s
  • 1 person in their 90s

Sewerage testing: In the Hunter New England Health District Dungog, Karuah and Inverell sewage has tested positive to the virus and the community is encouraged to come forward to identify and prevent community transmission.
