Covid: More than 7000 active cases
THERE were a record 478 cases of covid confirmed in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active cases in New South Wales to 7,045.
There were seven people die from covid overnight, two had received one dose of the vaccine and the remaining five were unvaccinated.
A 15 year old boy died at Sydney Children’s Hospital, who had covid, but the cause of death was pneumococcal meningitis. The young boy had been vaccinated against pneumococcal meningitis, but the vaccine may not have covered the strain he contracted.
Of the other people who died only two had received one dose of the vaccine and the others were unvaccinated. There were three men in their 80s, one woman in her 80s, one woman in her 70s and a man in his 40s.
There were 35 covid cases confirmed overnight in Dubbo as regional areas of the state continue to be of high concern.
New exposure sites throughout regional New South Wales continue to grow, including Orange, Bathurst and Mudgee and there is now at total of 57 venues of concern in Dubbo.
