Covid: 830 new cases and NSW records fastest vaccination rates

THERE were 830 new cases of Covid-19 diagnosed in the community in the past 24 hours and three more people have died.

There are 557 people hospitalised with the virus and 94 people are in intensive care, 31 of whom are being ventilated. Of the people with covid in intensive care, 83 were unvaccinated and the remainder had received only one dose of the vaccine.

Brad Hazzard, Minister for Health has advised New South Wales is now one of the fastest, if not the fastest in the world for getting vaccinated, but said we can still do even better.

The state vaccination hubs are providing 50,000 vaccinations per day, it dipped to 45,000 yesterday, but last Saturday the rate was only 24,500, showing the massive community uptake of vaccinations.

There are 58 percent of all people eligible have received their first vaccine and 31 percent are now fully vaccinated. 

Regional NSW:

There have been another 36 new cases identified in western NSW, with the majority of cases in Dubbo. New cases have also been identified in Bathurst, Wellington, Burke, Gulargambone, Orange, and Narromine.

There have been another two cases identified overnight in Orange and the residents of Orange are encouraged to come forward for testing.

Police: In the past 24 hours 940 infringement notices have been issued by police for people failing to comply with health orders. More than 5000 people with the disease under self-isolation orders have been checked for compliance and some fines issued for people who had breached those orders.
