Changes to covid notifications

Filed in Just In by December 16, 2021

HUNTER New England Health has advised of changes to covid contact tracing.

  • casual contacts will no longer be notified by NSW Health;
  • close household contacts of cases will be notified by text message;
  • close household contacts will be asked to notify anyone they may have been in contact with;
  • NSW Health will focus their contact tracing on high risk settings such as aged card, disability care, hospitals, correctional services and Aboriginal communities, and
  • exposure risks in all other settings, such as workplaces and private businesses are to be managed by those venues directly.

Hunter New England Health is concerned about the rising number of covid cases and urge people:

  • to be tested for even the mildest of symptoms;
  • book your booster shot if you are elligible;
  • consider wearing masks in high density settings, and
  • socially distance and practice good infection control.
