Breakfast Nearly Ready
WITH school holidays drawing to a close, the Morning Bites Breakfast van is getting ready to serve the first meal of the day to local students.
Lee Watts, manager of the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre said all students are welcome at the van.
“The Breakfast van commenced in 2019 with 23 volunteers preparing and serving 853 breakfasts to students on their way to school,” said Mrs Watts.
“The program is to provide a healthy breakfast to students, this gives kids the right fuel to start the day, helping them to fully participate in class and achieve the best grades possible,” she said.
‘The menu is rotated over an eight-week period with freshly made waffles, bacon and egg rolls and cheese toasties a few of the breakfasts on the menu served with fruit, muffins and milo or juice.
‘The support behind the van has been incredible in 2019 and we hope that support can continue in 2020.
“We are looking to local businesses for monthly sponsorship.
“For that sponsorship the business can place signage at the van during the month and we will promote them through our social media.
‘If you are a business and would like to sponsor the breakfast van for a month please contact me on 6545 2562 to discuss.
‘There is also room for more volunteers in the van and volunteers that have a tow bar are in short supply to tow the vehicle from its parking place to the front of our building,” she said.
“All volunteers are most welcome,” Lee Watts said.
