Big Weekend for Pay’s Warbirds
ON Sunday Ross Pay and his team will take to the skies with Warbirds Over Scone.
Ross will have six planes in the sky and have an open hanger on display which also houses two Spitfires currently under restoration.
It is a time for aviation enthusiasts to come together and a great promotion for the Scone aviation industry.
Ross is following his father Col Pay’s passion for aviation and is glad to be part of this event.
“We will have a chipmunk, an AT-6 Harvard, a P-40 Kittyhawk, a P-51 Mustang, our Tiger Moth will be there as well as the Hurricane belonging to John Brooks,” Ross Pay said.
“There is some organising on the day and an open hangar for people to come through and look at the Spitfires we are restoring, they’ll both fly later this year,” he said.
“There is a friend of mine bringing a Spitfire up from Temora, a Focke Wulf 190 is coming from Albury and of course Paul Bennett is bringing his collection of aeroplanes up from Maitland,” he said.
“We’ve been flat out getting planes ready for the day, test flying them and getting them ready to go and it looks like the weather is going to be good on the weekend so I think it will be a big day,” he said.
“There are a couple of individuals who have put a lot of hard work into it and I think it is going to be a super day for the Scone community,” he said.
“It shows what we can do around here and put Scone on the map aviation wise again, there has been a bit of break since my dad used to do it all,” he said.
“I appreciate all the effort that everyone has put in and I’m looking forward to a big day and hopefully we will get a big crowd,” Ross Pay said.
