Another 3.4 earthquake hits Muswellbrook

ANOTHER shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported early this morning in Muswellbrook, a week after the last quake struck the area.

The quake hit at 4:42 am at a depth of 5 kilometres. According to Geoscience Australia (GeoAu), shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper quakes since they are closer to the surface.

Mapping from Geoscience pinpoints the quake at a point near the Mt Arthur coal mine. No significant damage has been reported.
