Airport Works To Begin
THE Upper Hunter Shire Council have today announced work will begin on Monday at the Scone Airport, with Daracon establishing their site compound.
Stage 1 of the airport development is scheduled to commence on October 6 and the project finished by mid-February next year.
The runway will be closed for four weeks from November 9, to avoid the peak fire season of January and February.
The works to be conducted during the runway shutdown include:
- repairs to the two areas affected by gilgais;
- removal of the runway end safety area and repair;
- construction of drainage along runway;
- reseal full length of runway;
- installation of new lighting system conduits, pits and insert lights, and
- tie in for the main taxiway.
