Unmasked assault in Murrurundi
YESTERDAY a 53 year old man from Murrurundi has been charged by police for assaulting a 30 year old male employee of a food store in Murrurundi, after he was asked to wear a mask.
At approximately 4:15pm yesterday the man entered the store not wearing a mask and when the employee offered him a mask, the man allegedly became verbally aggressive towards him and left the store.
A short time later, the man returned to the store, walked behind the counter and allegedly assaulted the employee repeatedly, and attempted to drag him from the store, while threatening him.
Other customers stepped in to help the injured employee and the man left the scene.
NSW Ambulance treated the employee on scene for cuts and bruises to his face and swelling to his left eye, before taking him to Muswellbrook Hospital. He has since been released.
Police located the man at a home in Rosella Street, Murrurundi and took him to Muswellbrook police station where he was charged with assault occassioning actual bodily harm.
The man was granted bail and will appear in Scone Local Court on November 18.
