Covid update: 921 new cases
THERE were 921 cases of covid-19 diagnosed, 912 locally acquired and 2 returning overseas travallers in the past 24 hours and two deaths.
There was a woman in her 30s who died and her death is being investigated by the coroner and a man in his 80s who had underlying health conditions.
There are now 113 people in intensive care, 98 were unvaccinated, 14 had received one dose of the vaccine and only 1 person had received two doses.
Dr Lucy Morgan, a respiratory specialist described the symptoms they are observing in Covid-19 patients and strongly urged anyone who experienced breathlessness or dizziness to call an ambulance immediately.
Dr Morgan said it was heartbreaking to care for seriously ill people in their 20s, 30s and 40s who often had very young children who had both parents hospitalised and the children hospitalised in other hospitalised, dislocating the family.
Dr Morgan also confirmed “not one person that I was caring for was fully vaccinated” and urged people to get protected from the virus.
