Pullen Case: Ward granted bail

IVY-LEE Ward, a 27 year old woman from Singleton, appeared in custody today at Singleton Local Court and was granted bail for the charges of accessory after the fact to murder and do act intending to pervert the course of justice, in relation to the police investigation into the alleged murder of Ian Pullen in Singleton two years ago.

Magistrate Donnelly explained Ms Ward’s trial would not be able to occur until after the murder trial had taken place in the Supreme Court and asked the police prosecutor to estimate the time frame for when Ms Ward’s matter may realistically go before the court.

The Police Prosecutor estimated it could be two years until the murder trial is concluded and the Magistrate added there could also be an appeal of the trial which could add further time to when Ms Ward’s matter could go before the court.

Mark Diggins, the solicitor for Ms Ward said his client intended to plead not guilty to the charges and under the law was innocent until proven guilty.

The police prosecutor said police will allege Ms Ward attempted to conceal the vehicle used in the hit and run death of Ian Pullen.

Ms Ward must report to police daily, has a curfew of 8pm until 8am each day, may not drink alcohol or use drugs except for prescribed medications and may not be near or in contact with any witnesses in the Crown’s case.
