COVID-19 Closer To Home
HUNTER New England Health have issued an alert for people who have visited Salamander Bay Shopping Centre, Port Stephens and the Windsor Castle Hotel in East Maitland.
A person from Sydney who tested positive to the virus visited the Salamander Bat Shopping Centre on July 15 and the Windsor Castle Hotel in East Maitland between 6pm and 8pm on July 13.
Anyone who visited these venues at that time, or have been in the Port Stephens area, are urged to be vigilant for symptoms of the virus and be tested if even the most minor symptoms present, such as a scratchy throat or fatigue.
A Port Stephens man in his 60s has tested positive to the virus, which is directly linked to the Sydney visitor and is now in isolation.
Dr David Durrheim, public health controller for Hunter New England Health, said “even those with mild symptoms such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a new runny nose are encouraged to arrange testing.”
Local testing is available at the Scott Memorial Hospital in Scone.
