HAZMAT Called to Scone Sewerage Treatment Plant

AT approximately 1:15pm there was a 000 call to report a “strong smell of petrol” from the Scone sewerage treatment plant.

NSW Fire and Rescue crews from Scone and Rutherford are currently on site, with another two crews from HAZMAT in Newcastle and the duty commander on route.

Police have cordoned off sections of Aberdeen, Hill and Kingdon Streets as fire crews investigate. 

Blocks around the Scone sewerage treatment plant are closed to traffic as fire crews investigate a strong smell of petrol.
