THE Westpac Rescue Helicopter had two calls to Merriwa during the long weekend.
On Saturday at approximately 11:30am they were called to care for a 60 year old man who had fallen from a horse at Merriwa and suffered head and chest injuries.
The man was stabilised on scene by local ambulance before being flown to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for further care.
On Saturday night they returned to Merriwa to transport a 35 year old man who sustained serious chest injuries in a motorbike accident, earlier in the day, to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
