Your Mobile Phone – Breaking the Chain of Infection
THE University of Arizona did a study which found the average mobile phone has up to 10 times the amount of bacteria as most toilet seats.
So how can we break the chain of infection from our mobile phone? Watch the video, or read the full story below:
When you think about it our hands touch a range of surfaces throughout the day and then touch our phone.
We put our mobile phone on a range of different surfaces throughout the day too, all further contaminating our phone.
And then when we talk on the phone we put it onto our face…it’s the perfect way to get sick.
So there are a few things you can do to break the chain of infection from our mobile phone.
When you are out pop your mobile phone in your pocket, or in your handbag so that it is not coming into contact with as many surfaces, or your hands.
You can use the hands free option in some situations, so that you are not placing it on your face.
Don’t take your mobile phone into the bathroom and avoid taking it into the kitchen where food is being prepared.
You can have an area where you place your phone when you are at home, such as a tray where you place your phone, keys and wallet when you arrive home, keeping those things from coming into contact with other surfaces in your house and you know where to the find them when you need them.
And try cleaning your phone once in a while with a damp cloth or disinfectant wipe to clean all that fecal matter and bacteria off your phone.
