Yarraman Broke Record Today
TODAY Yarraman Park set a new record at the Inglis Classic sale with their I Am Invincible colt fetching $410,000, smashing the previous record of $350,000 in 2007.
Lance O’Sullivan’s Wexford Stables outbid Yulong Investments of China, who have already purchased four horses by I Am Invincible at the sale.
The colt out of English mare Quirina will be trained by Mike Mooney at Flemington.
From just over the Range at Willow Tree, Marquee Stud sold a colt by Uncle Mo x Victory Tycoon for $280,000 to the China Horse Club.
The average price of horses at the sale has risen by 33 percent and it is only day two of the three day sale.
On Friday, Johanthan D’Arcy, director of bloodstock for Inglis, was cautiously optimistic when asked if the they would achieve 10 percent growth or more this year.
“I’d be hoping for an increase of around ten percent, given we rose 10 percent last year,” Mr D’Arcy said.
“It could be more, we don’t get ahead of ourselves when we are predicting…anything ten percent and above is going to be a trememdous result,” Johnathan D’Arcy said.
A total of 270 yearlings have been sold in the first two days for a gross of $15,881,500 already only $4million shy of last year’s record.
There are still 209 lots to be sold tomorrow, including another 11 by I Am Invincible.
There have been 44 lots sold for $100,000 or more, compared to only 27 last year.
A total of 87 percent of horses have been sold through the ring, with 45 drafts recording 100 percent clearance rate.
