Word of the Fleece is Spreading
THERE were estimated to be more than 5,000 people, 200 sheep and lots of dogs at this years Festival of the Fleece parade in Merriwa yesterday.
Kim Fenley, president of the Merriwa Progress Association said it was a fantastic turn out for the town.
“This year has been exceptional, there is a much greater range of exhibits compared to previous years, the vintage cars and farm machinery is more extensive, the number of stalls are greater and there are more children’s activities,” said Mr Fenley.
“The fashion parade was huge this year and the poet’s corner was booked out,” he said.
“The word seems to be spreading and there is something for everyone, grandparents watching the sheering, children playing laser tag, it really is an event for the whole community,” Kim Fenley said.
