Woman’s Body Found

THE body of a 64 year old woman has been found in a car which was swept off a causeway on a property at Gungal.

The woman was in the car with her husband a 74 year old and were driving across the causeway on the Worondi Riveulet at approximately 9pm on Thursday when they were washed away by the floodwaters.

The man escaped the car, but his wife was trapped.

The man searched throughout the night without success and alerted police at approximately 8:30 Friday morning.

Police divers searched the waterway and found the woman’s body in the car at approximately 5pm, submerged in 4 metres of water.

Inquiries are continuing.
