Wildlife saving tissues

SUPERMARKET giant Coles Group is helping raise funds for Aussie Ark through specially designed ‘So Soft & Strong Facial Tissues’ box sales.

For every box, five cents will be donated to Aussie Ark to help raise brush-tailed rock wallabies and expand koala habitats.

Aussie Ark President Tim Faulkner said the Coles partnerships is huge for the organisation and will greatly assist their efforts in protecting declining species.

“It enables us to raise money through products Australians buy every day and the beautiful designs on the tissue boxes puts us right in people’s homes to remind them they are helping in such a simple and generous way,” Mr Faulkner said.

“The funds raised from the sale of the tissue boxes will go towards helping Aussie Ark raise brush-tailed rock wallabies and ensure they are strong enough to be released into wild sanctuaries, in addition to preserving and expanding koala habitats by protecting against feral pests, weeds and fires,” he said.

“These measures are critical in light of the finding that the koala will become extinct in New South Wales before 2050 without urgent intervention,” he said.

Tissues will be available in Eucalyptus and Aloe Vera scents, with re-designed packaging featuring artwork of the endangered brush-tailed rock wallaby and the koala, created by wildlife artist and Aussie Ark advocate James Hough.

Coles Chief Marketing Officer Lisa Ronson said Coles was pleased to have this opportunity to help support Aussie endangered species on a national level, particularly after seeing the devastating impact of last year’s bushfires on native animal species.

“Like all Australians, we were heartbroken to witness the effect of the bushfires on our native wildlife populations,” Ms Ronson said.

“Coles has a unique opportunity to assist in the recovery of our endangered species, and we are thrilled to be working with Aussie Ark to raise much-needed funds for the preservation and conservation of Australian wildlife for generations to come,” she said.
