Covid: Where locals can get vaccinated

 

Muswellbrook Hospital and the John Hunter Hospital are the main Covid vaccination hubs in the Upper Hunter for residents to book a jab and will usually appear on Service NSW when a user types in their postcode or suburb.

 

However, it appears the additional local General Practitioner (GP) or pharmacy services now offering Covid vaccines have not yet been placed on the Service NSW vaccine map.

 

Scone.com.au checked which local medical services are taking vaccine appointments for those Service NSW users who may be finding it difficult to book a vaccine or who do not wish to travel to the Muswellbrook and John Hunter vaccination hubs.

 

Many local medical practices are offering jabs, however appointments are strictly limited to how many AstraZeneca and Pfizer  doses are made available to each practice, so please bear this in mind and be patient if you would like to access a vaccine through your regular GP.

 

Thousands of New South Wales pharmacies also expressed interest in administering jabs as part of the government’s national vaccine roll-out strategy.

 

Last week, Merriwa and Denman Pharmacies were identified as priority vaccine locations and given the green light, but Denman Pharmacy told scone.com.au it is still waiting to receive a vaccine supply and won’t be operational for months.

 

Merriwa Pharmacist, Robert Smith said the pharmacy still has some structural work to do before it can begin administering jabs to the wider public and directed Merriwa patients to the vaccine clinic at Merriwa Surgery. 

 

Mr Smith said in the meantime, anyone struggling to access the AstraZeneca vaccine through their regular GP can register at the Merriwa Pharmacy, which will help facilitate vaccination appointments. 

 

Scone Discount Pharmacy is currently on the “provisionally approved” list and waiting to receive news about receiving possible vaccine doses.
