Veteran’s Golf: September 27
By Paul Gorman
ON a fine and somewhat blustery Tuesday morning on September 27, when 28 intrepid golfers teed up for a Strokeand putting competition at Aberdeen. In the field were 3 ladies and 2 visitors from Singleton.
All were made welcomed by the local members.
The course was in tip top condition yet again and our thanks go to all the people involved in keeping it that way.
The winner on a countback was President Paul Gorman with a score of 69.
Even encountering a 5 foot brown snake couldn’t deter him from his game.
Runner up on the day with a score of 69, also was Des Partridge.
Third place went to one of our esteemed visitors from Singleton Col Fogarty with a good score of 71, while fourth place went to reliable Phil Ledgerwood with a score of 72.
Golf balls went to G Boles, G Huggins, R Auld, K Thornton, R Banks, D Dowell, R Davidson, Lyn Banks, R Keating, G DeBoer and our other visitor from Singleton T Everett.
The putting competition sponsored by Aberdeen Rec Club went to Ross Banks with 27 putts.
A big thank you to the Aberdeen Rec Club for your continuing support of this event.
The best stroke score was won by Phil Ledgerwood with a fine 80.
Nearest the pins were 4th Lyn Banks, 7th Terry Everett, 9/18 Terry Mitchell, 13th Lyn Banks and no one claimed the 16th.
Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Mal Bruce who isn’t feeling the best. Hope to see you shortly back on deck Mal.
The next event is at Muswellbrook on Tuesday October the 4th, it will be a 2 Ball Best Ball.
Happy Golfing!
