Veteran’s Golf: Oct 18
By Graham Turvey
CONGRATULATIONS to Phil Ledgerwood on winning the NSW Veterans’ Sand Greens Championship for 2016 at Walcha, in a field of 60, recently.
This is a great achievement indeed.
In the meantime the Vets welcome new member Charlie Rohloff from Glenmore near Penrith.
Due to the wet weather we could not play on the sand greens at Murrurundi so the 20 Vets came to Muswellbrook on Tuesday, October 18 for a stableford event.
Captain Max Holz won with 37 points from Gerrit de Boer second 36 and President Paul Gorman third 35 C/B.
Balls went to Di Thorley 35, Reg Davidson and Phil Ledgerwood 34, Brian Dever and Ken Thornton 33, Terry Mitchell, Graham Turvey and Jim Elder 32 and Les Brown 31.
Nearest the Pins: 5th and 11th Bob Minch; 8th Graham Turvey; 14th Max Holz; 17th Di Thorley.
Sadly we report that Mal Bruce is very unwell in hospital.
We wish him a comfortable time.
On Tuesday, October 25 we play a stroke with putting event along with the final of the Jack White Trophy at Aberdeen with a shot-gun start at 8.15.
The AGM follows the round and lunch.
On Tuesday, November 1 (Melbourne Cup Day) we contest for the Col Hunter Shield with hit-off at 8am – 8.30 at Muswellbrook.
