Vale Ray Philpott
THE family of well-known local Ray Philpott wish to advise that he passed away peacefully yesterday at 5:30pm at the Scott Memorial Hospital in Scone aged 82.
He had fought bravely with lung cancer and his family praised the support he received from Dr Lang and the nursing staff at the local hospital.
Ray was born in Parkes and moved to Scone with his young family in 1981, when he established Scone Funeral Services, before selling the business in 1997.
His son Warren, said as a funeral director his dad gave so much to the people of Scone during the some of the worst moments of their lives, “his soft and caring nature helped a lot of people and he was made to be a funeral director.”
Ray had followed in his father’s footsteps when he became a funeral director and Warren also became a funeral director for many years. As a family they served their community for more than 150 years.
Warren described his father as incredibly committed to his family.
Ray Philpott is survived by his son Warren, daughter Angela, son-in-law Wayne, daughter-in-law Courtney and grandchildren Jordan, Sophie, Cyrus and Aston.
It is anticipated the funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1 at 10:30 am at the Scone Lawn Cemetery, but the family will advise of the time once it is confirmed and we will update this post with the information.
UPDATE: The family has confirmed the graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 1st at 10.30am at Scone Lawn cemetery. Everyone is invited to share this day with us. Morning Tea afterwards at St Luke’s Hall in Liverpool Street. The family has also said in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Scone Cancer Support Group.
