Upper Hunter Cricket This Weekend
By Gavin Newton- Smith
THIS week sees another competitive round in the Upper Hunter District Cricket competition.
The first game will see the local derby between Aberdeen 1 vs Aberdeen 2, which is always a competitive game and will give one side bragging rights until they meet again in the second round.
Murrurundi are heading out to Belltrees again, and hopefully this time some of the lads don’t get lost and end up at Rouchel.
It should be another great game with Beltrees scoring an impressive 209 only to be chased down by Aberdeen 1 with a few overs to spare, Murrurundi have also picked up quite a few new players which haven’t been seen in this competition and might give them the edge.
The game of the Round is the Warriors vs Rouchel on McNab Oval, Rouchel had a pretty good win against the Bulls last week in a game dominated by the bowlers and Warriors welcome back a few new faces which should provide some experience and class with the bat.
Finally the Bulls are taking on the Bushrangers on Saunders Oval, which should be another spirited game with some old Bulls making the move to the Bushrangers this season.
No doubt there will be a good bit of banter between the sides to go along with some excellent cricket with players wanting to impress before the representative games start in Round 4.
The weather forecast is almost perfect for cricket, with only a chance of one mil of rain, although slightly on the cool side.
All in all it should be a great round of cricket to get out to a game and support your local side.
