Update: Meads Creek Fire – Monday 9
THE infrared analysis of the Meads Creek fire at 5am this morning showed the fire activity had settled somewhat, but as the heat picks up during the day so will the fire activity.
The fire is still active on the northern edge, crews will continue to use earth moving equipment to build containment lines and aircraft are on standby in Mudgee for when the smoke settles, to help fight the fire.
The southern edge of the fire has become more active during the weekend, due to the prevailing winds.
It is anticipated that the fire will remain active for the next few weeks, so residents will need to remain vigilant.
If residents feel threatened by the fire they should phone 000 immediately, not a neighbour or friend.
