Turnbull Selling Upper Hunter Properties
MALCOLM Turnbull has placed his East Rossgole property, near Scone and his Scott’s Creek property, near Murrurundi on the market.
Mr Turnbull took over the 2714 acre, East Rossgole property, from his father, Bruce Turbull who died in a plane crash at Gloucester in 1982 and is buried on the property.
In 1994 Malcolm purchased Scott’s Creek a 5,004 acre at the foothills of the Liverpool Range near Murrurundi and was passed in at auction two weeks ago at $6million.
Chris Meares, Meares and Associates said the aim was to sell the two properties together.
“The two properties have always been run together; in a perfect world we’d like to sell them together because they do complement each other,” said Mr Meares.
“One is a breeding property (Scott’s Creek) and the other is a fattening property (East Rossgole),” he said.
“We offered the factory (Scott’s Creek ) first because it is a separate operation, but we are not looking to sell East Rossgole on its own at this stag, so we are selling it as a package in the way Mr Turnbull ran it,” he said.
“People are looking for properties with high rainfall and good improvements; Scott’s Creek has good rainfall and East Rosgole has good improvements,” he said.
“Both properties run sheep and cattle, Scott’s Creek can run 500 to 600 cows and 1,000 to 1,500 sheep and on East Rossgole 300 odd cattle and the equivalent in fat lambs,” Chris Meares said.
There was a mix of local and international interest for the online auction of Scott’s Creek and the same is expected for the package with East Rossgole.
