Train Troubles
NSW TrainLink are urging regional customers to reconsider their travel plans due to significant delays with rail services commencing today and expected to last until Monday.
Marg Prengergast, coordinator general said there are significantly reduced train services which will cause considerable delays.
“Regional services, intercity trains and Sydney Trains suburban trains will be running significantly reduced services from today so we are pleading with customers to allow a lot more travel time than usual and expect that they may need to alter their route,” Ms Prendergast said.
“Despite calling on hundreds of additional buses to help with intercity services, we are still unable to replace the full capacity of cancelled train services.
“Customers should consider whether they need to travel at all, but if they do, should allow plenty of additional travel time, expect delays and travel outside the morning and afternoon peak periods.
“If you choose to drive, we encourage you to car pool and give someone who lives near you a lift. Allow more travel time than normal as the roads will be busy.”
Some regional train services will be replaced with coaches and many connecting train services across Sydney, Newcastle, the South Coast and Central Coast, Souther Highlands and Blue Mountains will not be running on January 29.
Regional customers are advised to consider changing their travel time to a later date to rebook.
