Tour De Cure Rides Through Upper Hunter
TODAY 15 cyclists will travel on a 155 kilometre journey from Pokolbin to Scone to raise money for pioneering cancer projects, as part of the six-day 2020 Tour de Cure signature tour.
Riders will be travelling in an isolated pod through Aberdeen on Dartbrook Road at approximately 3pm and are set to arrive in Scone at 4pm, via Liverpool Street and Moobi Road.
Locals are invited to cheer on the brave cyclists, but are reminded to maintain social distancing and keep a minimum 1.5 metres away from the riding group.
Riders will rest at Arrowfield tonight and will travel towards Tamworth via Nowlands Gap tomorrow, departing at approximately 9am.
The Tour de Cure started in 2007, when three friends, Geoff Coombes, Samantha Hollier-James and Gary Bertwistle decided to help try and find a cure for cancer.
The friends were joined by 29 cyclists on their fist signature tour and rode for ten days from Brisbane to Sydney, travelling 1,175 kilometres.
The first signature tour raised $308,677 for cancer research, with the 2020 tour now having raised more than $2 million.
