Third Time – All Lucky
DONALD MacDougall and his wife were in town shopping yesterday, when a plane made an emergency landing on their Stoney Creek property near Rouchel, but Donald said it wasn’t the first time a plane had crashed at their place.
“As far as I know this is the third one that has come down on our property,” said Mr MacDougall.
“One was an engine failure, it was coming off our strip and the funny story about it was there was a bloke painting a house and there is a flat stretch in front of it and he put the plane down on the flat stretch in front of the house and pulled the plane up in the fence of the house and the house painter disappeared for a week,” he laughed.
“And the other one was a Tiger Moth years ago and our strip has a bend in it and the bloke didn’t realise and somehow he tipped it over, I think my dad has a photo of it upside down,” Donald MacDougall said.
The Tiger Moth incident happened in the late 1950’s and the plane which scared off the house painter was in the 1960’s.
By the time the MacDougall’s returned home yesterday it was dark, so they plan on going out into their paddock today to see where the latest plane to crash land in one of their paddocks ended up.
