The Big Night
FORTY three talented locals have practiced all week and are ready for their big performance at St Joseph’s this evening and you are invited.
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the All Stars workshops.
Integrated Living began the workshops with staff from the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), to give their clients the chance to experience art, dance, music and drama workshops culminating in a concert at the end of the week.
In their first year they had 20 students volunteer their time, four years later NIDA left it in the capable hands of the St Joseph’s students to continue.
This year there are more than 150 students who have volunteered to work with 43 talented clients from Integrated Living, the Endeavour Foundation, Challenge Community Services and the Samaritans to put on a spectacular concert.
Chic Taylor, team leader at Integrated Living, said it has developed into an amazing week that benefits everyone involved.
“The week is absolutely unbelievable for all involved and it spills over into the rest of the community when they see each other out and about down the street,” said Ms Taylor.
“These students give new meaning to the word inclusion,” she said.
“On Thursday the students put on a beautiful surprise dinner and dance to celebrate at the school together,” Chic Taylor said.
After the concert the Aberdeen Lion’s will cook a sausage sizzle and rumour has it perhaps one more surprise is in store.
