THE Upper Hunter Youth Council is preparing for Graffiti Removal Day in Scone on Sunday and encourage residents to report graffiti.
The focal point of this year’s efforts will be the Scone Youth Centre and the clean up will make the students eligible to apply for a grant to paint a mural and fund anti-graffiti paint.
Mary Spora, youth services supervisor for Upper Hunter Shire Council said it’s a great chance for youth to make a difference in their community.
“It is empowering for young people to see how they can make a difference and you don’t realise how much fun volunteering as part of a group can be until you are involved with something like this,
“With funds from a graffiti clean up we were able to get the money to do the mural on the bike underpass on the way out to Satur
One of the local art classes from Scone High designed the mural and we’d like to do another mural
“It’s all part of getting our and being part of the community.
“Council do a fairly good job of cleaning up graffiti, but if people in the community have sites they have found let us know,
