Stock Report: September 18
By Stuart Sheldrake
THERE were 703 cattle yarded yesterday in what was a fairly quiet week.
The market was very similar to the last few, but plainer cows were 10 or 15 cents dearer.
Trade calves to the butcher shops, so good finished trade vealers and yearling cattle were ten or 15 cheaper, but everything else was firm.
There is not a lot of selection as there is just not much left.
It’s going to be like this for some time.
There are a few bobby calves coming off cows, but everything else is in short supply.
There will be a lot of cattle out of the south start to hit the market which will put a bit of pressure in the market.
Our outlook for the next 6, 12 even 18 months, we will be very quiet.
