Stock Report: January 7
By Stuart Sheldrake
Over 900 cattle were penned today which was a few less than we had predicted, this is a reflection on the amount of cattle that have been sold out of the area.
The day started with the export market which was cheaper, especially for heavy cows which were ten cents cheaper with plainer cows firm to five cents cheaper.
The trade market was mixed in the market, grain fed calves were mainly firm to slighty dearer, anything with weight is selling well at the moment.
Lighter cattle are very tough at the moment with nowhere to go due to the dryness across the eastern sea board, fires and everything involved, no one has grass and it is getting very tough.
