Splash Park for Scone?
RESIDENTS can vote now to support Spray and Play in Amaroo Park, Lang Place, Scone.
The Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre have applied for a community grant and residents can vote to have the project approved for government funding.
Please note: This is not a Council matter. The funding applied for by community groups is from the state government. Community groups in our local area are also competing against groups from throughout the Upper Hunter electorate – which includes Muswellbrook and Singleton areas. Which projects are given funding by the state government is dependent on voting.
Lee Watts, manager of the Centre said they were excited to have the project selected for community vote.
“If enough people vote and we are successful in winning the vote funding will be secured to build the ‘Spray and Play’ park at Amaroo Park, Scone,” said Mrs Watts.
“We are thrilled we have made it to the next round, Jaala Presland identified a need for more recreational options in local parks and spoke to the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre to sponsor and complete the application for the project,” she said.
“This is democracy in action, if you would like the park to be built you need to vote,” said Lee Watts.
The splash pad will be designed for water play with ground nozzles spraying water into the air and activated by a hand activated-motion sensor, to run for a limited time.
Update: Lee Watts manager of the Centre explained that they have worked with Council, which operate Amaroo Park, to look at recycling the water used, most probably when the pipes are installed for the new toilet block that is to be built in the park shortly. They are mindful there is a drought, but the water used at the park would be minimal and not impact on other water needs in the community.
